Lecture Summary:

Fault tolerance is nowadays one of the major challenges in cloud computing due to the increasing demand for cloud computing services over time requiring high service availability and consistency. Some of the techniques of fault tolerance are reactive fault tolerance techniques that attempt to recover the system after failures occur, while others are proactive techniques that predict failure before occurrence that saves the system as much as possible. Proactive tolerance of faults is essential to save the system from failure because it predicts system failure.

The lecture proposes a new module that inherits six different fault-tolerance policies, this module is responsible for predicting faults in the real cloud computing system and is trying to balance system loads between cloud hosts to increase system availability and reliability, and we are introducing a new VM selection technique, which it calls "Minimum Faulty-One (MFO)" which has faults in history when selecting a virtual machine that has no faults before or at least one. A new MySQL database is essential for tracking and saving all actions that are done by the proposed module to manage all faults and our module behaviour.
