Higher Education and Scientific Research: The Electronics Research institute organizes a workshop on the balance in the lives of women leaders
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, reviewed a report submitted by Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader Muharram, Acting President of the Electronics Research Institute, about the Institute's organization of a workshop entitled "Balance in the Lives of Women Leaders", at the Institute's headquarters in New Nozha.
The report indicated that the workshop comes within the framework of the "Egypt Women Technology Club" initiative; With the aim of encouraging and developing the capabilities of Egyptian women in the field of scientific research, enhancing their role in growth, development and innovation, and increasing the chances of their participation in state awards, patents, funded grants, and occupying senior positions.
During the workshop, Dr. Sherine pointed out that the percentage of women leaders of research bodies affiliated with the ministry currently exceeds 30%, which reflects the active participation of women and their ability to occupy leadership positions, and the support of the political leadership for them, stressing the importance of balancing scientific and family life to reach success and achieve the desired goals.
On the sidelines of the workshop, Dr. Sherine announced the establishment of the Egyptian Women's Technology Club at the institute's headquarters; with the aim of encouraging women and enhancing their efforts, and believing in their role in Egyptian society in general and in scientific research in particular. Dr. Sherine also announced that a treatment protocol is being prepared between the Electronics Research Institute and the Institute of Eye Diseases; to provide medical services to the institute's employees.
On her part, Dr. Wafa Kandil, President of the Theodor Bilharz Institute for Research, said that a joint cooperation protocol has been signed between the Electronics Research Institute and the Theodore Belharz Institute, which includes a discount on medical services provided by the Theodore Belharz Institute for the Electronics Research Institute workers and their first-degree relatives.
The workshop was attended by a number of women leaders in the field of scientific and technological research, including: Dr. Noha Emad, head of the National Calibration Institute, Dr. Mona Abdel Latif, Director of the General Authority of the City for Scientific Research and Technological Applications, Dr. Esmat Abdel-Fattah, former head of the Electronics Research Institute, is a full-time research professor in the micro strip Circuits department, and the, Dr. Tayseer Abul-Nasr, is a full-time professor of electrical engineering at the University of British Columbia.
